Gardener's and bees, hornets, wasps are friends as these are vital in pollination. Still the proximity factor warrents that eventually (8 times this year) you will get stung. Now there are preventions that cut down this risk so try to keep them in mind and learn from my pain.
Wear gloves.
Don't shake a tree that you know has a nest.
Don't weed clover, bee balm or bergamot.
Wear shoes.
If you are stung, jump around and swear loudly, many times so that the neighbor's will think your normal obsessive compulsive behavior "oh, that explains it", is Tourettes syndrome.
Alarm your husband while he is on the phone and thinks you ran over your foot with the lawn mower. He will then apply a baking soda paste while surpressing smiles. That is the only part that really hurts.
It's-Be Nice to someone politically opposed to your views day!
